Gene ID Converter + Human–Mouse Orthologs
Paste a gene list to convert between Symbol, Ensembl ID and Entrez ID, update outdated gene names, and get human ↔ mouse orthologs.

- “Old name → current”: many genes have been renamed (e.g. SEPT1 → SEPTIN1, MARCH1 → MARCHF1); outdated names are replaced by the current official symbol.
- “Ambiguous”: an old name or alias maps to several genes; each candidate gets its own row, so you can decide.
- “Excel date repaired”: Excel turns names such as SEPT1, MARCH1 and DEC1 into dates like “1-Sep”; they are restored here. The original file is already damaged, so save gene lists as text in future.
- The “Relation” column: 1:1 one-to-one; 1:n one gene has several orthologs; n:1 several genes share one ortholog; n:n many-to-many. It always describes the full relation, even if only the best ortholog is shown.
- Orthology is an integrated computational call, fine for most expression analyses; for a gene your paper hinges on, double-check in HGNC / MGI. Only human and mouse are supported.
